The SnapBack Client
23
This setting, left at the default, will invalidate a backup tape if a problem occurs during the backup process. This is to
prevent any misconception that a backup was good when it was not completed successfully.
Overwrite Last Backup
With this item set to the default, SnapBack will not overwrite the previous good backup tape. It is recommended this
is enabled.
Backup Partitions Only
Enabling this option will cause SnapBack to backup only the partitioned area of the hard drive. For example, if you
have a 2048mb Primary Partition and an 8096 MB Extended Partition on a 18 GB hard drive, SnapBack will only
backup a total of 10144 MB and not the unpartitioned part of the drive. This means that you are still backing up
unused space inside the partitions but not unpartitioned space ensuring you still have a complete image of the hard
disk
Pause during user I/O
With this setting enabled, SnapBack will pause the backup when ever a user I/O is sent to the server, giving the user
top priority. We recommend leaving this option set to its default, which is checked.
Spanning/Cascading
This setting allows SnapBack to span tapes when backing up large hard drives, or cascading across multiple tape
drives. In order to span or cascade, this option MUST be checked. The default is not checked.
Note: The TapeDisk option will not be functional if you span or cascade tapes.
