Troubleshooting
SnapBack Client Connection Problems
Please run through this following checklist if you are having problems connecting to the SnapBack Server from a
SnapBack Client.
Do you have the correct Server name ?
Make sure the Servers box on the Login screen has the name of the server or it's IP address entered correctly.
Is the SnapBack Server service started ?
You can check this on the Server by going to Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Services. Search through the list
for SnapServer. It should say it is Started. If it is not, attempt to start it by highlighting it then pressing the "play"
button on the toolbar.
If the server does not start or fails in some way, check the log file for the reason why.
If it starts, try connecting again.
Is there a firewall between the SnapBack Client machine and the Server ?
The connection between the Client and the Server is done over standard TCP/IP using port x.
When troubleshooting connection problems the first step is to try and Ping the server you are trying to connection to.
To do this, open up a Command Prompt (or DOS window) from your Start Menu and type in "ping servername"
where servername is the name of the server. If you receive a response from it, try and connect using the SnapBack
Client.
If you are connecting over the internet, or using a VPN to connect to the server, there may be a firewall between your
machine and the server. You will need to make sure that the correct ports are open on the firewall and, if you're using
NAT, are forwarded to the SnapBack server. Consult the instructions for your Firewall or Router for information on
how to do this.
